Police foil militants' plan to kill VIPs in Jammu and Kashmir

With the arrest of five top activists of the pro-Pakistan outlawed Harkat-ul-Ansar and one pro-Khalistani militant outfits in Jammu city on the eve of the New Year's day this year, the Jammu and Kashmir Police has claimed to have succeeded in foiling a plot of the Pakistan Inter Service Intelligence Agency to get assassinated some of the top pro-Indian political leaders and to engineer bomb explosions during New Year's Day.

Mr. Ashok Gupta, the senior superintendent of police (Jammu district) told newsmen today the police got a tip-off about these plans of the top activists of the Harkat-ul-Ansar militant outfit from Ranjit Singh, a pro-Khalistani militant.
