4 of family killed in J&K

Srinagar: Four members of a family jawans were among 16 people killed in militancy-related violence across Jammu and Kashmir since Tuesday morning. According to police, unidentified militants barged into the house of Abdul Gani Dar, a former Congress(I) activist in Goigam village near Tangmarg, about 45 km from Srinagar and resorted to indiscriminate firing. The 55-year-old house owner, his wife Aisha, daughter Bobby and son Sarwar Hussain were killed. Their bodies, lying scattered in the house till Wednesday morning, were taken out only after police reached the site. In an encounter between militants and security forces in the Nacha Nala area of Doda district three militants, one jawan and a special police official (SPO) were killed, police said. One SPO was shot dead in Serigufwara village of Anantnag district, sources said. One human skeleton was recovered by police in Simthon forest of Bandipore area.
