Farooq questions Hurriyat''s ''vision''
20 May 2000
Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister, Dr. Farooq Abdullah has asked the Hurriyat conference to spell out the place for non-muslims in its so-called future vision of Kashmir, saying it will be against the spirit of Islam to single out individuals on religion. ''Those crying hoarse about the so-called Azadi, Plebiscite or merger with Pakistan must ponder whether they have takers among the Hindus, Sikhs and Buddhists or for that matter the Muslim majority in the state,'' Dr. Abdullah said at a function here on Friday. He said the released Hurriyat leaders must introspect over the wanton destruction and consequent miseries to the people caused by the decade-long militancy. The people of the state wanted peace and an end to the devastation, destruction and killings.
