J&K Govt. firm on autonomy issue
11 June 2000
Srinagar: The National Conference Government is firm on its commitment on restoration of autonomy to Jammu and Kashmir and nobody can create confusion in this regard, State Works Minister Ali Mohammad Sagar has said. "Autonomy (to J and K) would be restored at all costs," he said, castigating "those who are bent upon creating confusion in the minds of the people." The senior Minister"s assertion while addressing a public meeting at Zandferan in Baramulla district yesterday assumes significance as the State Government has convened a special session of the Assembly on June 19 to discuss the autonomy issue. The State Cabinet has already endorsed the report of an autonomy committee and sent it to the Centre some months back.
