Bar protests ladakh killings

Jammu: The Bar Association Jammu has strongly condemned the killing of three Budhist Monks in Ladakh some communal and fundamentalist elements in ordder to create communal franzy in the otherwise peaceful Ladakh Region and have decided to suspend work tomorrow July 15, 2000 to lodge its protest. A meeting of the Bar Association Executives committee was held here today to discuss the situation arising out of the killing of the three Budhist Monks unde the Chairmanship of president of the Bar. Mr D S Saini. The meeting strongly condemned the innocent killings and the failure of the State Government to contain the deteriorating law and order situation in the State. The Association has decided to suspend the work in the courts tomorrow in protest against the killings and attempts of the fundamentalists forces to disturb the religious harmony in Ladakh region. The association expressed deep concern over such incidents and demanded a thorough probe into the matter to ascertain the gameplan of the anti-national forces.
