23 July 2000
New Delhi: A London-based Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) leader, Khawaja Mushtaq Husain, after a visit to Jammu and Kashmir, has called for working towards enforcing a ceasefire and initiating a broad based dialogue for a final settlement of the Kashmir issue. ''Now please give peace a chance,'' said the European convenor of the Jammu and Kashmir National Liberation Front (JKNLF) as he called for starting a ''multi-channel'' dialogue on both sides of the Line of Control. Permitted to visit the valley and Jammu, Mushtaq Husain appealed to the Indian Government to ''set the ball rolling by starting a serious dialogue with the Hurriyat leaders''. He said later the negotiations could be expanded to include other groups like Kashmiri pandits, people from Jammu, Ladakh and Kargil.
