Eight militants killed in Kashmir

Jammu: Eight militants including six foreign mercenaries belonging to Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) and Harkat-ul-Jehadi-Islami (HUJI) were killed in encounters with security personnel in Poonch and Doda districts of Jammu division since last night, official sources said today. Three unidentified LeT militants were killed in a pre-dawn encounter with Army in Lasana area of Poonch. The marking on their guns confirmed they were LeT militants and belonged to Pakistan, the sources said. Three foreign mercenaries belonging to HUJI outfit were shot dead in Tota Gali area of Surankote in the same district last night. The militants were identified as Mohd Bashart alias Abuhamid of Bagh district (Pakistan), Khalid Kahmood alias Abu Shamma of Muzzafarbad (POK), and Mohd Rashid alias Abu Obida of Pakistan, the sources added. One unidentified militant was killed in an exchange of fire with special task force personnel at Gandoh in Doda district while another militant was shot dead in Jungnoo area in R S Pura during the period, they said.
