17 persons injured in Jammu blast

SRINAGAR: Seventeen people, including special police officers (SPOs) and village defence committee (VDC) members, were injured in a bomb explosion outside a police station in Doda district of Jammu region on Tuesday, official sources here said. The blast took place near Kishtwar police station when a group of SPOs and VDC members were moving in the area, the sources said, adding 17 people received splinter injuries. The injured were rushed to hospital where condition of two persons was stated to be critical. Police and security forces sealed the area and launched a hunt to nab the militants involved in the explosion, the sources said. Officials who visited the spot said the blast was caused by an IED planted by militants. No militant outfit claimed responsibility for the explosion. (PTI)
