GILGIT: Balawaristan National Front (BNF) said here on Saturday that the people of Balawaristan will not accept any unilateral decision on held Kashmir that may jeopardize the interests of Gilgit and Baltistan. In a press statement, the BNF leaders said they would resist any move where the people of Gilgit and Baltistan were not taken into confidence regarding the Kashmir issue. They urged Chief Executive Gen Pervez Musharraf to include people of Balawaristan as a party in the Pakistan-India dialogue on Kashmir in Delhi next month. The statement criticized the deputy chief executive of Northern Areas and Northern Areas Legislative Council members for issuing baseless statements regarding the status of Northern Areas and termed them as their "personal views". Balawaristan is a disputed area and its people are the sole stake-holders to decide its fate, nobody has the right to bypass the people, they said. Even the Northern Areas Legislative Council is not a legitimate body to decide its fate, the statement claimed. The BNF leaders also demanded elections in Northern Areas under United Nations supervision and condemned the attitude of local political leaders.
