Consensus among parties on J&K: Pant

New Delhi: Centre's interlocutor on Kashmir K C Pant on Thursday said political parties in the country, irrespective of their differences, were near unanimous in their approach to the Kashmir issue. "It is a healthy development as all representatives of political parties that I have met so far have been appreciative of the peace moves and have been unanimous on the Kashmir issue," Mr Pant told reporters here after meeting the representatives of the Samajwadi Party and Akali Dal. Mr Pant, who visited Jammu and Kashmir recently, said his aim was to take the next step in consultation with all political parties.Mr Pant has been meeting representatives of political parties including Congress and Left after his first visit to Jammu and Kashmir as the Centre's negotiator. Earlier, Samajwadi Party general secretary and Rajya Sabha MP Amar Singh welcomed the announcement of Prime Minister of holding consultations with all Opposition parties before his summit talks with Pakistani military ruler Pervez Musharraf. "We welcome the talks and nomination of Pant as negotiator on Kashmir," said Mr Singh.
