LoC areas prosperous compared to PoK: Farooq

Srinagar: Chief Minister Dr Farooq Abdullah today said the development scenario in areas alongside Line of Control is far better than those in Pak occupied Kashmir. Intervening during supplementaries to a question of Mr. Abdul Gani Naseem in Legislative Assembly today, the Chief Minister referred to the statement of former PoK Prime Minister Sardar Abdul Qayoom about the dismal development in the occupied territory and said a discernible progress has been registered in the far off areas here. He said Turtuk village in Nobra Valley has witnessed socio-economic transformation over the years with youth getting jobs and economic activity picking up. He said the armed forces in consultation with State Government take welfare measures aimed at giving fillip to the development in such areas. Earlier in reply to the main question, the Revenue Minister, Mr. Abdul Qayoom said that the preparation of revenue records for Chandukha, Turtuk, Thang and Thakshi is under process. In reply to another question by Mr. Ali Mohammad Dar, the Minister said that presently there is no proposal under consideration of the Government for establishing a tehsil headquarter at Baghat-i-Kanipora.
