SRINAGAR: Four civilians were killed on Friday after Pakistani forces opened fire in Kashmir, Indian army sources said. They said Pakistani forces started ''unprovoked'' firing along the border in the Poonch sector, 556 km south of Srinagar.Mortars were launched from the Pakistan side, they said, and Indian troops returned fire with light machine guns. A fire also started blazing in the area, they said.Indian and Pakistani troops have exchanged fire most of this week. Tensions in the region were heightened on Monday when India launched artillery strikes on positions in the Pakistan-administered part of the territory. This was retaliated by Pakistan when it opened fire on Indian posts a day later. In New Delhi, however, Indian defense and foreign ministry spokesman said on Friday the situation along the border was ''nothing untoward'' and described the firing as ''routine.''
