Srinagar: Militants shot dead two army personnel, as army foiled yet another attempt by Lashkar-e-Toiba militants to launch a fidayeen (suicide) attack by killing one militant outside a camp in Kashmir Valley on Friday, official sources said. Troops of Rashtriya Rifles shot dead a Lashkar militant when he tried to sneak into their camp amid firing on it from two sides by his accomplices at Zainapora in Shopian area of Pulwama district in south Kashmir early Friday. Militants opened fire on the army camp, a defence spokesman said, adding one of the militants came near the boundary wall and tried to sneak in but was killed by the troops. He said a hunt has been launched to nab his associates. This was the second abortive attempt by Lashkar to storm army camp in Kashmir Valley within four days. On December 4, three Lashkar militants were killed as the troops foiled their attempt to storm the headquarters of 21 Rashtriya Rifles at Bagatpora-Zachaldara in frontier district of Kupwara. Two army personnel were also killed in the incident.
