Major militant hideout busted in Kashmir

SRINAGAR: Army has busted a major militant hideout and recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition in Baramulla district of north Kashmir, defence sources said on Friday.The hideout was unearthed at village Check-e-Sultan Khan near Lalad in Reban area of Sopore, 60 kms from here, on Thursday night on the basis of ''pin-pointed'' information, the sources said.Six AK assault rifles, 36 magazines with 545 rounds, two pistols, two pistol magazine with 11 rounds, one under-barrel grenade launcher, a universal machine gun, six hand grenades, three wireless sets, 20 detonators, two remote control devices and six 60- mm mortar shells were recovered from the hideout, they said.The recovery had dealt a ''severe'' blow to militants operating in the area, the sources said.
