Pak troops target Akhnoor camp, shelling in Rajouri

JAMMU: Pakistani troops targeted a migrant camp in Devipur area in Akhnoor sector by resorting to indiscriminate fire from across the border on Tuesday night, official sources said here on Wednesday.However, there was no report of any loss of life or injury from the migrant camps as many of the inmates had fled due to heavy firing and shelling by Pakistani troops, the sources said.Pakistani troops also resorted to mortar shelling in Laam sector of Rajouri district since 8.30 am on Wednesday but there was no report of damage on the Indian side.The shelling was continuing in the area from across the Line of Control (LoC), they said, adding Indian troops were retaliating.Reports of exchange of fire were also reported from border outposts at Hiranagar, Samba, Ramgarh and R S Pura during Tuesday night, the sources said.Meanwhile, three people - including a Pakistani intruder - were killed in separate militancy-related incidents in R S Pura area and Udhampur districts of Jammu division since Tuesday.Security forces have also busted a militant hideout and recovered a huge quantity of arms and ammunition, the police said.An intruder, suspected to be an agent of Pakistan''s Inter Service Intelligence (ISI), was shot dead by security forces in Nikowal village of R S Pura area on Tuesday.In another incident, militant barged into the house of Ghulam Hassan in Dhujsan-Dalwa village in Udhampur district and shot him dead.Police recovered the body of Mohammad Abdullah of Chakra Sajroo village in Mahore Tehsil of Udhampur district. He was earlier kidnapped by militants and later killed on the outskirts of this village.Police and Security Forces during a joint operation busted a militant hideout in Changlu area of Banihal in Doda district and recovered arms and ammunition, including one under barrel grenade launcher with its four grenades, one anti- personnel mine with remote activator, one Chinese pistol with two magazines and 50 rounds, four pencil cells, one binocular, one telescope of sniper rifle, medicines and some photographs of militants.
