Blast in Udhampur, 3 hurt

JAMMU: Three persons were injured on Saturday when militants triggered an improvised explosive device (IED) in Udhampur district while security forces killed an ultra in Kathua district of Jammu division, police said. The miliatnts triggered the IED with remote control device in the Basantgarh area injuring three people and damaging the vehicle they were travelling in, police said. The injured had been hospitalised, they said. A militant was killed by security forces in an encounter at Lohang in Bani area of Kathua district on Saturday. Some arms and ammunition were recovered from the slain militant. In another incident, one Hizbul Mujahideen militant, identified as Ishtaq Ahmed Sheikh of Palmar area of Kishtwar tehsil in Doda district, surrendered before the police on Saturday. He handed over one AK rifle with its 30 rounds to Additional Superintendent of Police, Kishtwar, police said.
