Threats of moving bases to India forced Pak on back foot

London: Some plain speaking by the US and threats of downgrading its status in its scheme of things if Pakistan did not end support to militants operating in Kashmir resulted in easing of tensions in South Asia. The US Deputy Secretary of State, Richard Armitage, threatened Islamabad that US would move its bases from Pakistan to India if the Pakistan Army and military intelligence support for Islamic radicals in Kashmir did not stop and it delivered the results, the British daily Independent has disclosed.
