Nine Pak intruders gunned down along LoC

Srinagar: The army said on Tuesday that its soldiers had shot dead nine militants who tried to sneak across the Line of Control into Kashmir from Pakistan. An army spokesman said it was the second infiltration bid by militants in the past three days along the Line of Control. The spokesman also added that the army foiled an infiltration attempt on Monday night at the Sonapendi, Kandor and Ratogali sectors in the border district of Kupwara. ''Nine militants who tried to infiltrate from Pakistan were killed in these sectors,'' he said. IED BLAST, COLONEL KILLED A Rashtriya Rifles Colonel was killed and two jawans were critically injured in an IED explosion in Marmat area of Doda district in Kashmir on Tuesday. The injured jawans have been admitted to army hospital in Udhampur. In another incident, a special police officer Gulzar Ahmed was killed when militants opened fire on a police post in Gandoh area, the sources said adding the militants managed to escape.
