Terrorists take policemen hostage in J&K

Srinagar: Two terrorists on Monday killed one policeman and took three policemen hostage at a house close to a polling booth in Srinagar on the eve of the second phase of assembly elections in the state on Tuesday. A team of policemen rushed to the house in Gogji Bagh area in Srinagar on receiving information about the presence of terrorists there. The house is near a CRPF camp set up in a polytechnic college in the area. As security forces cordoned the house, sub-divisional police officer Mohd Yusuf, station house officer (SHO) of Rajbagh police station Bagwat Singh and two constables entered it. Mohd Shafi, a constable, was killed in firing inside the house. Wireless communication snapped with the remaining three police officials who have been taken hostage by the terrorists in the house. Their fate is unknown even several hours after the raid began, said official sources. The terrorists are beleived to be heavily armed with AK 47 rifles and other weapons.
