Jammu: Protest demonstrations continued for the third day today in several parts of the Valley against the court verdict sentencing three convicts to death. Normal life remained completely paralysed in Kashmir Valley in view of a general strike observed against the verdict. Complete strike was observed in most parts of the Valley. The strike was called by Hizbul Mujahideen and Dukhtaran-e-Millat. Thousands of people today took to streets in Baramulla town in protest. Soon after the Friday prayers, nearly 15,000 people assembled at Masjid Biat-ul-Mukaram in Baramulla and carried out a march. Led by senior separatist leader and chairman of Democratic Freedom Party Shabir Ahmad Shah and JKLF vice-chairman Javeed Ahmad Mir, the people were raising slogans against BJP-led NDA government. They marched around the township and later assembled at a bus stand. Shah lashed out at Centre and described the verdict was “politically motivated”.
