Northern areas advisor shot dead

GILGIT : Saifur-Rehman Khan, Northern Areas Advisor for Education, Revenue and Finance, was shot dead allegedly by his first cousin Imtiaz on Wednesday, police said. On his way to office he got two bullets and was taken to DHQ Hospital Gilgit in critical condition but he expired before reaching hospital, hospital sources told APP here. According to details, the accused opened indiscriminate fire by a 30-bore pistol at Saif-ur-Rehman Khan. The reason behind the gruesome murder could not be ascertained so far. Police said the accused has been arrested along with weapon of offence. A large number of people rushed to hospital and brought the body to his residence in shape of a big procession. He has left behind one widow and two sons to mourn his death.
