ISLAMABAD: The Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) presidency is considering filing a disqualification reference against AJK Prime Minister Sardar Sikandar Hayat over his reported proposal for the division of Kashmir on religious lines with River Chenab marking the boundary between the two parts. AJK President Sardar Anwar Khan on Wednesday held a detailed meeting with Murree General Officer Commandant Major General Wasim Asharaf and discussed the AJK prime minister's statement regarding the so-called Chenab formula. 'The purpose of the meeting was to focus on the present political situation of the AJK in the wake of the AJK PM's statement regarding the Chenab formula as the solution of the Kashmir dispute,' sources privy to the meeting told Daily Times. They said Mr Anwar also briefed General Asharaf about his concerns regarding the AJK cabinet.Sources said the president also discussed the option of sending a disqualification reference against the premier to the AJK Supreme Court as the opposition members in the state assembly are likely to submit a written request to the president in this regard. During the two-hour meeting, Mr Anwar and the Murree GOC also discussed issues relating to the development of Azad Kashmir, sources said. They said Mr Anwar has started consultations with his constitutional and political aides to send a reference against the AJK prime minister.
