PoK Only Issue With Pak: BJP
30 June 2003
New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party on Monday said that only issue with Pakistan was 'to get back the part of Jammu and Kashmir that is in its illegal occupation'. BJP spokesman Vijay Kumar Malhotra said this a day after RSS chief K S Sudarshan criticised the Government position that it was ready for give-and-take on Jammu and Kashmir. Other party spokesman Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi asserted that the sole target of the Centre's 'give-and-take' policy in Jammu and Kashmir was to end cross-border terrorism. Reacting to the criticism of the Sangh Parivar organisations on the 'give-and-take' policy, Mr Naqvi said the steps taken by the Vajpayee government in regard to Jammu and Kashmir were in right direction. 'In our view, 'give' means putting an end to cross-border terrorism and 'take' means stopping the menace from the other side,' Mr Naqvi remarked. However, he said Pakistan needed to explain a lot about its steps and measures it had taken to stop terrorist operations on its side not only to India but to the world community. The media reports emanating from the US were indicating that the West was not convinced by the 'pretentious and proclamations' of Pakistan President Prevez Musharraf of ending terrorism. The US should have thought twice before it announced monetary support for Pakistan as the money was bound to be 'misused' by that country, he said.
