SRINAGAR: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) on Saturday took strong note of the suggestion of the visiting Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) leader Maulana Fazlur Rehman that India and Pakistan should resolve the Kashmir issue under the Simla Agreement. The APHC said Kashmiris' involvement was crucial to bring a lasting solution to the issue.APHC Chairman Maulana Muhammad Abbas Ansari said unless the Kashmiris were involved in the dialogue at any level, the issue cannot be resolved. He said the result of the dialogue should be acceptable to the people of India, Pakistan and Kashmir.Mr Ansari said Mr Rehman's suggestion had no substance, as he has not clarified his stand on the Kashmir issue. He said more than 30 years have passed since the Simla Pact was signed but the Kashmir issue is still disputed. 'There is a problem with the Simla Pact. It is written that the Kashmir issue is to be resolved. But, which Kashmir? What New Delhi sees as liberated Kashmir, Islamabad calls 'occupied'. And above all there is no mention of the Kashmiris involvement' said Mr Ansari. 'We want a solution for the whole of Jammu and Kashmir. Let India and Pakistan talk to each other to break the logjam. But we as a party need to be involved at any stage and the resolution to the Kashmir issue should be found within a set timeframe' he said.
