Mehbooba condemns forcesí excesses

Jammu: Strongly condemning the acts of reported excesses by forces on innocent civilians in Lam, Tral, the PDP President, Ms. Mehbooba Mufti has assured of stern action against the forces personnel involved in the incident. Ms. Mehbooba was talking to group of people at national highway near Awantipora who were peacefully protesting against the alleged forces excesses on people in Lam, Tral, yesterday. While praising the youth of Tral area for their patience and restrain, the PDP President said that people have every right to demonstrate peacefully against any complaint of excesses by the forces or against the negligence of the Government and administration. She said peaceful demonstrations and protests against alleged excesses is a vital component of healthy and sound democratic set up. She said in true democracy people have every right to seek redressal of their grievances and raise voice against any kind of rights violations and it is the prime duty of Government to solve their problems and mitigate the sufferings in the right earnest. Ms. Mehbooba assured the people that a police post would be set up in Wagora, Tral so that local police could remain present alongwith the security forces at the times of search operations to check allegations of excesses on the innocent people. PDP President said that Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed has asked the higher authorities of security forces to ensure that innocent people are not put to any inconvenience during search operations by the security forces.
