'39,500 Died During 14 Years Of Kashmir Violence'

Srinagar: The freedom struggle in held Kashmir has left more than 39,500 people dead since it began 14 years ago, an official said here on Wednesday. The figure includes some 3,900 people who have disappeared mysteriously in the restive state since the advent of the struggle in 1989. 'As per the figures compiled by the held state police some 35,615 people have died in the unrest between January 1990 to September 15, 2003,' a top state official said.
