Protesters Block Karakuram Highway

Gilgit: Hundreds of school students on Thursday blocked Karakuram Highway in district Diamer demanding repeal of what they called contemptuous material from the existing textbooks of Urdu, police said. Thousands of protesters mostly students and clergymen blocked Karakuram Highway from Gul filling station to Thag Nalla bridge for two hours. They were demanding to expunge contemptuous text existed in the Urdu of class 5th and class 10th, which they said was against the belief of Sunni Muslims.
