35 Arrested In Gilgit Military Operation

Gilgit: At least 35 people were arrested and large quantity of ammunition seized as the military and paramilitary forces continued operation in several outskirts areas here on Saturday. The military jawans had sealed the locality from Airport Chowk to Garrison Chowk, and even the police officials were not allowed in the targeted area. The joint military and paramilitary forces mainly focused on Khumer, Nagral, and Domial where the operatio started Friay night and continued on Saturday. The local administration has meanwhile asked the foreign tourists to leave the area, and they have been shifted under police protection to the safer places, from where they will leave for Rawalpindi. Reports from Huza Nagar said that the of the 15 FC jawans who disappeared 12 have been freed by the protestors, while they were still holding the rest three. The curfew was Saturday relaxed after two and a half days, but when the people came out for shopping they were again asked that the relaxation has been cancelled. They were ordered by the security officials to head back home.
