Jammu: The alleged misbehaviour of the Jaish-e-Mohammad militants with local Kashmiri women has caused a rift between the Hizbul Mujahideen and the Jaish-e-Mohammed at Awantipur in Pulwama district. The Jaish, founded by Maulana Masood Azhar who was released after the IC- 814 hijacking, consists of foreign terrorists, while Hizb militants are mostly from the state. Following the rift, the Hizb has threatened not to take part in any operation that targets Kashmiri women. The row was sparked after a Jaish militant allegedly raped a carpenter's wife and forced her to have an illicit relationship with him. 'After she found her husband unable to protest against the incident, the woman committed suicide by consuming poison,' a source said. The suicide sparked widespread resentment among the villagers. The villagers were told that the culprit was a Hizb militant. When Hizb cadres came to know about it, they were fuming with rage. Sources said Hizb's tanzeem chief Musa had even threatened to wipe off the name of Jaish cadres on wireless sets if they continued with such atrocities. Mirwaiz uncle dead Maulvi Mushtaq Ahmed, uncle of Hurriyat leader Mirwaiz Umer Farooq, who was shot at by militants died here this evening. Mushtaq was fired at inside a mosque in Srinagar on 29 May. Five Pakistani militants were today shot dead by the Army while two members of a marriage party, including the bridegroom, were killed when they were attacked by the ultras in J&K.
