Normalcy restored in Gilgit: Sherpao

Islamabad: Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Northern Areas Aftab Ahmed Sherpao said on Friday complete normalcy has returned to Gilgit and other parts of the Northern Areas and routine business has also been restarted. Talking to APP at the Parliament House, he said Islamabad- Gilgit-Islamabad flights have been restarted. Responding to a question regarding curfew, he said curfew has been relaxed without any untoward incident during the last few days. All tourists, local as well as foreigners, have been asked to move freely anywhere in Northern Areas, including Gilgit, the minister said. The administration of Northern Areas has opened all roads leading to Gilgit and there is no problem for journey from Gilgit to other parts of the country, Sherpao said. Regarding the syllabus, he said the issue is being resolved with the consensus of all aggrieved parties. The minister plans to visit Gilgit on June 14 (Monday) and meet various sections of the society, besides having a meeting with Northern Areas administration, aimed at resolving the issue amicably.
