Srinagar: Chairman of the breakaway Hurriyat Conference Syed Ali Shah Geelani today said he will not accept dictates from any quarter on the issue of reunification of its factions. Reacting to statements by the Itehadi Force over the unity issue, Mr Geelani said he would step down only if the Majlis Shoura, highest decision making body of the HC, asks him to. The Itehadi Force comprises several separatist organisations and including some HC Executive Council who do not support any faction. Mr Geelani said the HC functioned under a constitution where decisions were taken only after discussion among the constitutent members. He said he had repeatedly asked the Itehadi Force to join the HC so that their proposals on uniting the separatist groups could be discussed. Mr Geelani also demanded that the main office of the organisation be handed over to him. He inaugurated a temporary office of his faction, also in Rajbagh, today.
