Kashmir Separatist Under Arrest

Srinagar: Authorities in Indian-administered Kashmir have put separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani under house arrest. Mr Geelani heads the hardline faction of Kashmir's main separatist alliance, the All Party Hurriyat Conference. He had been planning to go to the southern town of Anantnag to visit the family of a militant leader who was killed on Wednesday. The Hurriyat says the militant, Manzoor- ul-Islam, died in custody, but Indian forces dispute this.
