EU Report, A Great Help To Resolve Kashmir Issue: PM

Islamabad: A delegation of European Union called on Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz at the Prime Minister's Secretariat here on Tuesday. While appreciating the report prepared by the European Union on Kashmir issues, the Prime Minister said that the European Parliament's report on Kashmir will be a great help in resolving the Kashmir issue. He said that Pakistan is an anchor of peace in the region. Pakistan, he said, initiated dialogue with India to resolve the core issue of Jammu and Kashmir along with the other outstanding issues. The prime Minister expressed satisfaction over the progress of dialogue and hoped that the forthcoming meeting between President Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will further accelerate the process of peace in the region. The Prime Minister said that Pakistan already enjoys good business and trade relations with European Union. 'We would welcome assistance and more market access to Pakistani products to the European Union', he added. James Elles, Member European Parliament, appreciated the Pakistan's efforts for resolving of Kashmir issue for the sake of peace in the region. He also appreciated the democratic process in Pakistan. He commended the economic progress made by Pakistan during the last five years. He said there was lot of potential for enhancing trade and business relations between Pakistan and European Union. He said European Union would be happy to enhance cooperation with Pakistan for further promotion of business and trade.
