The year 2004 witnessed the guns on both sides of the Line of Control dividing the state of Jammu & Kashmir falling silent after years. Both India and Pakistan pledged to solve their dispute over the state's status through talks. In the meanwhile, the Hurriyat fell into disarray with bitter disputes amongst its leaders. India saw the election of a news government and the newe Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh visited Kashmir. Terrorism too saw a decline during 2004. Life was easier for the people of the state. Today, in 2005, The people look forward to easing of travel curbs on both sides of Kashmir and a return to peace.
