Militants Attack Houses Of Two Councillors

Srinagar: Militants attacked the residences of two victorious candidates in the civic polls at two different places during the last 24 hours in Kashmir. Elsewhere, security forces killed one ultra in an encounter at Harwan here. A local news agency CNS said that Allah Tigers has claimed the responsibility for the assassination of the National Conference winning candidate Mohammed Maqbool Shah at IkhrajPora here. Police said in the evening militants hurled a grenade at the hosue of Abdul Rasheed Kuchay at Nowpora, Bandipora which exploded causing damage to window panes. Kuchay had recently won the local body elections of PDF mandate. In another incident, militants attacked the house of Mohammed Sultan Sofi at Ahangar Mohollah Bijbhera and fired several rounds. Sofi was not present in the house when the ultras attacked his house. He had recently won the elections from ward No 4, Bijbhera in PDP ticket, police added. Police said in an encounter between ultras and security forces at Harwan here one militant was killed. A huge quantity of arms and ammunitions was recovered from his possession. Police said that security forces recovered a huge quantity of arms and ammunitions from different hideouts raided during the last 24 hours across Kashmir.
