'Environment Degradation Will Lead To Water Crisis'

Jammu: Water crisis would worsen in near future, due to deteriorating environment conditions globally, said Shabir Ahmed Rather while speaking on the occasion of 'World Water Day' celebration at Behrot in Rajouri. A large number of students and general public participated on the occasion. Rather said that Iqra Foundation has expressed grave concern over the dwindling forest cover that has resulted in frequent droughts, floods and unexpected rise in the temperature. He also flagged off a rally of students with the aim to educate masses about the conservation of natural resources, particularly water and protection of environment. A three-day environment workshop was also inaugurated, in which 45 students are participating. In her address Roohi Naseem, secretary Iqra Foundation said that the rising pollution level has degraded the quality of air soil and water.
