Foreign Agency To Survey Doda-Anantnag Road: J&K Minister

Srinagar: A foreign agency will carry out a road alignment survey to connect the mountainous Doda district with Kapran area of Anantnag and present a feasibility report for the same, Jammu and Kashmir Minister for Roads and Buildings, Ghulam Ahmed Mir, said. 'We will induct a foreign agency of engineers to survey road alignment and formulate a feasibility of road connection between Doda and Kapran (Anantnag) districts for an alternative road between Kashmir valley and Jammu division of the state,' Mir told a public gathering during his six-day long tour of Doda on Sunday. The foreign agency would be soon inducted for this job to have a feasibility report at the earliest, he said, adding, 'We are focussing on this road with priority.' Mir, who visited far flung and militancy prone areas of Poonch, Rajouri, Kathua and Udhampur districts during his two-week long tour to monitor ongoing works undertaken by his ministry, said 'the construction of this road would ensure economic development and trade activity with kashmir region in this direction.' The Doda-Desa road shall be constructed in phased manner, provision of Rs 65 lakh has been made for Doda-Bhopapul road under ADB, Bhagwa-Kunnal road project has been completed, Mir said.
