Infiltration Bid Foiled, 3 Ultras Killed

Jammu: Security forces today foiled an infiltration bid along the Line of Control at Kelchian in Naushera, killing three militants who were trying to cross over. Sources said at around 3:30 p.m., the militants had crossed the Line of Control and were 400 metres inside the indian side. After spotting the militants, the Rajouri division of the Army laid an ambush and killed the two militants. The third militant lost his limb while passing over a mine-field. The encounter was in progress when the reports last came in. Three AK rifles, 19 AK magazines, 888 rounds of AK ammunition, one UBGL, six UBGL rounds, 25 hand grenades, three Pakistani hand grenades, one radio set ICOM, two radio set Kenwood, four IED switches, 20 electronic detonators and three kg explosives were recovered from the slain militants. Security personnel said the bodies of all the three militants have been recovered, but their identity could not be ascertained. Officials further pointed out that infiltration bids along the Naushera sector have been reported earlier as well after the ceasfire on borders and the Line of Control. A three-year-old girl, Sayeeda Begum, was killed by militants of HuJI outfit at Asthan Mandu in Doda. According to officials, Dulla Gujjar and his two accomplices entered the dhok of Farooq Gujjar and demanded food from Nazeera Begum, wife of Farooq Gujjar. On being refused, Dulla Gujjar fired indiscriminately, killing Sayeeda on the spot and grievously injuring Nazeera. The condition of Nazeera Begum is reported to be stable. Militants also killed a special task force person and the security forces recovered a cache of arms at different places. Officials said at Jantaram Thatri, one special task force person, identified as Ranjit Singh, got killed in an encounter with militants.
