PDP Leader Escapes Bid On Life

Srinagar: A ruling PDP leader Maulvi Iftikhar Hussain Ansari escaped an attempt on life while three militants were killed and another was arrested in Jammu and Kashmir where security forces busted two hideouts and recovered five kgs of RDX besides arms and ammunition. Ansari had a narrow escape as police detected an IED planted by militants on a road in Budgam district just before his visit to the area on Sunday, official sources said. Meanwhile, six civilians were injured when militants tossed a grenade towards a security patrolling party at Koimoh-Kulgam, 65 kms from here, in Anantnag district on Sunday. Three of the injured were discharged after first aid while three others were hospitalised, a police spokesman said. He said two militants, yet to be identified, were killed in an encounter with security forces at Tukson-Mahore in Udhampur district on Saturday night.
