Regional SARAS Attracts Locals, Tourists In Legions

Srinagar: Regional SARAS Fair 2005 conducted from 28 July to 9th August 2005 has served a prime attraction for both locals and visitors. The marvelous fair was overwhelmingly visited by the locals and tourists, domestic as well as foreigners. Being the first of its kind in the state, the Fair received a superb response of the people who expressed their desire of holding this Fair in the valley every year. All the participants of the Fair showed satisfaction and thanked the Rural Development Department for ensuring every facility to them besides extending a courteous treatment to them. Aimed to provide tremendous marketing to the rural products manufactured by Below Poverty Line (BLP) Artisans of various states of the country, such fairs provides a platform to the artisans fraternity to exhibit their traditional local products in a better way and enthuses them to bring in more innovations in their creativity to meet the changing marketing requirements. Beside, these occasions also cements the bonds of love and amity among the people of varied faiths and cultures. The artisans who participated in the Fair were from Maharashtra, Gujrat, Rajsthan, M.P, U.P, Bihar, A.P, H.P, Assam, Uttranchal and Haryana etc. The ethnic products made by these artisans left an indelible mark on the minds of the people. Most of the artisans had to leave for their homes in 2-3 days as whole of their products were brought by the consumers. The Nodal Officer of the Fair, State Nutrition Officer, Promila Gupta distributed certificates among the artisans. She appealed to the participants to convey a right signal of the changed atmosphere in Jammu and Kashmir to their Home states.
