Kashmiris celebrate opening

Daska: The local Kashmiri community in Daska and Sambrial tehsils, celebrated the opening of the Line of Control (LoC) between Pakistan and India on Tuesday. Dr Zahid Ghani Dar, the central chairman of the Jammu and Kashmir Freedom Movement, Bashir Asad Bagri, the central chairman of the Himalaya Freedom Movement for the Jammu and Kashmir State, and other leaders termed the opening of LoC a milestone towards the peaceful solution to the Kashmir iussue. They said the divided Kashmiri families would now have an opportunity to meet after 58 years of separation. They expressed complete solidarity with the people of Kashmir. The Kashmiri leaders addressed celebratory meetings held at Daska, Bhopalwala, Sambrial, Uggoki Bajwat, Satrah and surrounding areas.They urged the United Nations (UN) to pressure India for a peaceful solution to the Kashmir issue. They also urged the UN to take notice of the human rights violations, genocides and custodial killings of innocent Kashmiris by the Indian army in Jammu Kashmir.Programme to rehabilitate quake-hit families soon The provincial government's special programme for the rehabilitation of the earthquake survivors will start in a couple of days, said Shehla Shahid Butt, the provincial parliamentary secretary for social welfare in Punjab, on Tuesday.She said that under the programme, all the provincial ministers, advisers, parliamentarians, union council members, tehsil and district nazims and Pakistan Muslim League's office bearers will participate in the Punjab government's support a family programme. She said that the earthquake victims would not be left lurch and their rehabilitation would be a top priority.
