Top militants killed in Kashmir

Srinagar: Security forces on Tuesday gunned down an Afghan war veteran, active in the Kashmir valley for the past 12 years, and another top militant in an encounter in Pulwama district of Kashmir, a defence spokesman said. He said Sikandar Khan alias Mama, an Afghan war veteran, was the divisional commander of the Al-Badr outfit. The spokesman said Sikandar Khan and a 'district commander' of the outfit were killed in an operation at Nilura of Pulwama district on Tuesday. When security forces were sealing the exit points of the village, the militants attacked them and in the clash, the two were killed. Two militants surrendered at Udhampur, while militants snatched a rifle from a Village Defence Committee member at Rajouri.
