2 LeT Militants Killed At Rajouri

Jammu: Two top Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) militants were gunned down by Army and police during a joint operation at Kotli Kalaban in Rajouri district today, while a lady was apprehended by the security forces while moving at Noori Gap near the Line of Control under suspicious circumstances. Giving details, SSP Rajouri, J P Singh, said that on specific information, Romeo Force and state police launched a search operation at Kotli Kalaban near Loharka Top under the jurisdiction of Manjakote police station on Saturday night. As the search parties cordoned a hideout and challanged the militants, the latter opened indiscriminate fire. The fire was effectively retaliated and in the ensuing gunbattle the two top LeT militants were eliminated, he added. The slain militants have been identified as area commander Abu Muzafa Shah, and Abu Marsad. The former was a Pakistani national, the SSP said, adding that the police recovered two AK-56 rifles along with eight magazines, one wireless set and some incriminating documents. Both the militants were responsible for the killing of Major Shyam Sunder and Sepoy Rama Rao on March 5. Meanwhile, security forces apprehended a woman who was barely 100 meters short of fence along the Line of Control at Noori Gap this morning. Identifying her as 50-year-old Shabana Pervez alias Sakira Khatun, she has been handed over to police station at Lam. At Dharera near Mendhar, security forces conducted searches on Saturday and busted militants hideouts built in two natural caves and recovered two hand grenades, 30 rounds of AK ammunitions and three explosive slabs from there.
