LAHDC initiates project to help youth of Leh

Ladakh: A meeting of Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) was held under the Chairmanship of Tsering Dorjey to analyze ways and means to check the growing unemployment in Ladakh. The meeting decided to create a special cell which would work as a resource centre for individuals looking for information regarding agencies providing loans for establishing innovative schemes etc. The special cell would comprise members of Hill Council, District Administration, NGOs and European Union-India Economic Cooperation which would formulate a think tank for devising viable enterprises conducive Ladakh un-employed youth. It was disclosed in the meeting that LAHDC in collaboration with European Union-India Economic Cooperation, Druk Pema Karpo Educational Society Drukpa Trust and SECMOL has initiated a project called 'Enterprising Ladakh'. to extend enterpreunial skills to the interested youth. Others, who attended the meeting were Executive Councilors, Tsering Narboo, Dorjey Motup, Tsewang Rigzin, Executive Members of the European Union-India Economic Cooperation, Director SECMOL Sonam Wangchuk, Chief Wildlife Warden Jigmet Takpa, District Officers and heads of various NGOs. The CEO appreciated the joint venture of the European Union along with the NGOs in supporting the Hill Council for devising a way to create avenues and enterprises which will go a long way to create jobs in private sector for the educated un- employed youth of Leh. Deputy Commissioner, Leh M. K. Dwivedi urged upon the educated youth to take benefit from counseling systems like that of Enterprising Ladakh.
