3 LeT militants among 5 killed in Kashmir

Srinagar: Two soldiers of Territorial Army and three militants were killed in separate incidents of violence across the Valley, while as Army arrested three Hizbul Mujahideen militants from Baramulla along with some arms and ammunition. Three cops were injured in a late evening militant attack at Zadibal. According to details two soldiers of 161 Battalion Territorial Army were shot dead by militants in Mawar Handwara today while as in the same area troopers gunned down two Lashkar-e-Toiba militant on Wednesday. Another LeT militant was killed in a gunfight in Kupwara last night and in Zadibal area of Downtown Srinagar, militants hurled a grenade towards a police patrolling injuring three cops including an ASI. Sources said that militant opened indiscriminate fire at Azad Ahmed War, son of Abdul Karim of Lachi Mawar Handwara and his colleague Altaf Hussain Wani of Baramulla Lachi Mawar (both soldiers of 161 TA) during the last night. The duo was shot dead outside Azad's house, where masked militants last night forced their entry and dragged Azad and his friend outside the house and shot them dead, sources said. Militant outfits Al- Mansoorian and Al- Badar have jointly claimed the responsibility for the killings. Two militants owing allegiance to Lashker-e-Toiba were killed in a fierce encounter with troopers at Qazipura Handwar on Wednesday morning, defense sources said. Giving out the details of the incident, sources said that troopers of 22 RR in a surgical operation based killed two militants affiliated with Lashkar-e-Toiba militant outfit in Shahipura Watargam. Sources said that troopers on specific intelligence input cordoned off the Shahipura village during which an encounter broke out between the hiding militants and the troopers. Sources said that two Pakistan trained militants of Lashkar-e-Toiba were gunned down in the operation and have been identified as Hamza and Abdullah of Pakistan. In another operation, troopers of 47 RR killed a militant in Kandi area in Kupwara identified. Identifying the militant as Abu Hafa Mansoor Lashker-e-Toiba commander, of Pakistan, sources said that he was killed in a brief encounter during last night. Besides busting a hide out in the operation, troopers also claimed to have recovered one AK 47 rifle, one magazine, ten rounds, one Radio Set and one pouch from the slain militant. Sources said that a trooper was also injured in the operation. The operation was in progress till reports last came in. Militants tossed a grenade in Zadibal area of Downtown Srinagar on late Wednesday evening injuring three cops. Giving out the details, the sources said that militants lobbed a grenade towards a police patrol party in Zadibal this evening injuring an ASI and two constables. The injured were taken to hospital, sources added. Meanwhile, Army apprehended three militants of Hizbul Mujahideen, they have been identified as Nissar Dar of Nadihal, Jahangir Khan of Noorbag and Mehraj of Nadihal, from Baramulla today. Three hand grenades, one pistol along with one magazine and five rounds and a radio set were claimed recovered from the apprehended militants.
