Militants Gun Down Two Men In Jammu And Kashmir

21 April 2006

Jammu: The bullet-ridden bodies of two men, a Border Roads Organisation (BRO) staffer and a labourer, were found Friday morning in a remote mountain area of Jammu and Kashmir's Udhampur district. According to police, the BRO staffer and two labourers were walking on the road from Pathrian Gali to Gool after their vehicle had broken down when four armed terrorists stopped them late Thursday. Officials here said the militants segregated the Muslim labourer, Mohammad Sultan, from the other two and asked him to leave. Sultan told a Border Security Force (BSF) post nearby that he heard gunshots just after he was let off. The security forces searched the area and found the bodies in the morning. The two dead were identified as Vijay Lamba and Kuldeep Raj. Security forces have thrown a cordon around the area and launched search operations.
