Cable operators resume services in Valley
14 May 2006
Srinagar: Ending a three-day blackout, cable operators on Sunday resumed services in Kashmir Valley barring a few entertainment channels, following statements by some militant organisations in favour of lifting the ban on satellite channels. 'We have resumed operation after taking into account the statements of some militant organisations describing the ban as uncalled for,' a cable operator said on condition of anonymity. He said Harkat-ul-Mujahideen, Al Madina, Jaish-e-Mohammed and Al Badr — the four militant outfits which had imposed the ban, announced its lifting in local newspapers on Sunday.
