Two militants killed in Rajouri

Jammu: At least two militants were killed in a gun battle with the Jammu and Kashmir police in Mashkoor area of Rajouri district Tuesday, police said. A fierce gunfight started in Mashkoor, about 170 km north of here, Tuesday afternoon when a police party cornered a group of seven militants. Two of them were killed, while the fight was on with the rest of them, according to police. On Tuesday morning, police had killed one unidentified militant in Doda district. According to reports reaching here, police raided a suspected hideout of militants in Barnalla village of the district, around 200 km north of here. Police recovered an AK-47 assault rifle and a huge quantity of ammunition.Other militants moved out of their hideout and were involved in a fierce gunfight with police.Meanwhile, a report said that a group of 10 militants had intruded into the Indian side from across the Line of Control Monday night. While the army denied the report, police sources said that they had confirmed information of the intrusion.
