Three Soldiers Detained For Links With Militants

Jammu: Three soldiers hailing from a border village of Jammu and Kashmir have been taken into custody for thei alleged links with the Laskhar- e-Toiba. Sources said Shakeel and Haq are being questioned about their suspected links with LeT 'district commander' Abu Usama, believed to be responsible for grenade attacks in Jammu. The two soldiers had earlier served in counter- insurgency operations with the Rashtriya Rifles (RR) in Kulgam area of south Kashmir. Meanwhile, two policemen have also been picked up for their alleged links with militants. Sikandar and Kabir were picked up for questioning, state police chief Gopal Sharma said. However, he said the detentions were an 'exception and not the rule'. 'Their names had figured in the interrogations (of militants), then it took time to fix their identities,' he said.
