Musharraf for demilitarising Kashmir

Islamabad: President General Pervez Musharraf on Wednesday proposed demilitarising Kashmir and introducing self-governance in the valley. Talking to Barrister Abdul Majid Tramboo, executive director of the European Union Kashmir Centre in Brussels, and Ali Raza Syed Centre Advisory Council president, Musharraf said Pakistan wanted a solution of the Kashmir issue, which should be acceptable to Indians, Pakistanis and Kashmiris. Syed said the president wanted the solution of the problem to be in the interest of Pakistan, India and Kashmir. Barristor Tramboo briefed the president about the activities of the Kashmir Centre. Syed suggested that Azad Kashmir should be declared as a model state and Kashmiris based abroad should be invited to assist in its development.
